Gangster Chakre Milan acquitted of attempted murder charge

The Kathmandu District Cour (KDC) has given a clean chit to notorious gangster Milan Gurung aka Chakre Milan on the charge of attempted murder of real estate developer Sanjeev Oli. His three other associates were slapped with six month prison term each. KDC sent Rup Jung Gurung, Bijay Lama and Nirajan Poudyal to jail while another accused Raj Kumar Tamang was cleared of the charges.
Chakre Milan's gang had attacked Oli, the owner of Habitat Housing after the company refused to pay them Rs 20 million. They had set fire on a bulldozer with the driver inside before attacking Oli.  Chakre Milan was arrested in 2009 in Bhairahawa and is currently doing time in the Central Jail for several charges including drug and arms smuggling, kidnapping and extortion.
Chakre Milan is also affiliated to Youth Force, a sister organization of CPN-UML party. He is reported to be close to KP Oli, one of the senior leaders of CPN-UML and receives bhai tika from Oli's wife during Tihar.
