Mugu, one of the most remote district in the country is now connected with motorable road. The mountainous district has faced difficulty in transportation for years. The local residents will benefit from the road as transport prices for goods are likely to go down.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai inaugurated the roadway of the Nagma-Gamgadhi section under the Karnali Highway. The local residents can now sell fruits, herbs and other cash crops to other districts. The government plans to extend the roadway to Humla and Bajura soon.

The construction for the road began in 2008. The 94-km long road connects Gamgadhi, the district headquarters of Mugu to Nagma Gath in Kalikot district. The total cost of the construction of the road is Rs 1.58 billion. Nepal Army was given the task to construct the road.
